Day 01 – 90 Days of AI (setup)
This is the first day of my 90 day challenge. My plan is to complete writing/learning/coding every day and keep track for the next 90 days. This will become a course for myself and perhaps others. The minimum bar is to work every day and post every day. Todays goal is to setup my environment on my windows 11 laptop. I also have a macbook, but it is an older generation. I will also practice on both machines to see which might be better for development for me, as well as for AI in general.
10:00-11:00 am General Plan:
- Plan my day during previous evening routine or during the morning routine.
- Do a starter session of at least a few minutes to get the ball rolling. Knock over the first domino of work. Hopefully once started, further dominos will be knocked over leading to a productive session of deep work. I will also keep a detailed log of time.
- As I am working, I will log my progress in google docs. It seems like one of the best ways, but perhaps evernote would be better especially when I am offline.
- At the end of the sessions, or by the end of the day I will finalize my progress in googledocs. I will sycronize it to other platforms as necessary.
- Specifically:
- post blog to lewflauta.com
- post update to github
- I can probably skip googledocs for now, but might be good to just do it.
Processes/Todos:
- Windows:
- Setup github
- Download install cursor IDE
- Get openai API key
- In Cursor setup .env file to hold my secret API Keys.
What is the overall landscape of AI currently?
AI is already completely changing the business landscape as of August 1, 2025. Companies are refraining from hiring jr developers by utilizing AI. Tech firms are laying off expensive and non-ai related workers. Agentic AI and Vibecoding are trending topics.
Competencies I want to achieve by October 31, 2025 (1 quarter):
- I want to be able to Vibecode any app that comes to mind.
- I want to be able to leverage AI in my job search as well as in assimilating and conveying the skills that are needed quickly.
- I would like an AI Engineering Job, but it may be far more lucrative to be able to develop my own products within a few weeks.
